About Don Hazen

Chiropractic had its beginnings a century ago, as a technique for normalizing the relations between the vertebrae - a technique which founder D.D. Palmer called, "racking the bones". He emphasized the neurological benefits of chiropractic manipulations (called "adjustments"). While the original techniques have undergone many adaptations and refinements, the fundmentals remain:

1. That healing is a function of the body's inborn capabilities, with the practitioner merely supplying the necessary information or mileau.

2. That manipulation of the joints of the body has beneficial effects, not just at the joint being treated, but throughout the body, in part as a consequence of normalizing the neurological pathways.

Over the years Chiropractic has diversified into over 200 different techniques for accomplishing its ends. Some are more mechanically oriented - taking a contact point on a vertebra and applying a rapid impulse which moves the bone through the resistive barrier. Others accomplish their goals with very little contact and no thrust.

I use a technique called Directional Non-Force Technique, or DNFT. The adjustment in DNFT is a light impulse that triggers a neurological response, which then corrects the misalignment of the vertebrae. Many of my clients prefer the lighter contact to more traditional adjustments, and I find it works well with the other modalities I use.
